Foreign Minister meets High Commissioner for Human Rights

Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashed Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, met here with Volker Türk, the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The minister is in Geneva to participate in the Human Rights 75 high-level event, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), held at the Human Rights Council headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland on December 11-12.

The meeting discussed cooperation between the ministry and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Dr. Al Zayani and the High Commissioner reviewed the efforts and initiatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain aimed at protecting human rights, following the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and in line with the approach of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The government has implemented human rights projects and initiatives, in line with the kingdom's commitment to international laws and agreements and its keenness on implementing the National Plan for Human Rights (2022-2026).

The meeting also discussed the dire humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip and international efforts to end the war and the suffering of the Palestinian people, and to deliver humanitarian and relief aid according to international humanitarian law.
