Legalization of documents

The Consular Services Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides a variety of services, including the service of legalization of both types of official transactions: 

  • Standard Legalization: The official transactions of beneficiaries inside or outside the Kingdom of Bahrain who wish to legalize any certificate, document or transcript issued by an official authority inside or outside the Kingdom. 
  • Apostille Legalization: Only official documents bearing a stamp and signature approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from government bodies in the Kingdom can be legalised.

  • Missions accredited to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Legalization Office Locations

  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Consular Legalization Office (Diplomat Tower).
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Consular Legalization Office (Bahrain Chamber of Commerce & Industry).
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Consular Legalization Office (Labor Market Regulatory Authority - Sanabis).
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Consular Legalization Office (Labor Market Regulatory Authority - Riffa).

Terms of Service

  • Documents issued by the Kingdom of Bahrain must contain a stamp and signature approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • For documents issued outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, the applicant must first authenticate these documents from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country, then from the Bahraini diplomatic mission in that country.
  • Any change or addition made to the data contained in the original document will result in rejecting the authentication of the document.

Required Documents

  • Legalization service application form (standard or Apostille).
  • A copy of the applicant's identity card.
  • The applicant's contact number.
  • The original document required to be authenticated, provided that it is stamped and signed by the relevant authority.

Document Submission Channels/Steps

Submission channels:Through the official 4 legalisation offices, National Portal website or Mawaeed App.

the following steps must be taken:

    1. To schedule an appointment in advance, you can visit the Bahrain Portal website www.bahrain.bh or use the MAWAEED appointments application. Alternatively, you can go directly to any of the Ministry’s legalization offices.
    2. Fill out the attestation application form (standard / Apostille).
    3. Attach the required documents.
    4. Pay the necessary fees for certification.
