Legislative Authority

Members of the Legislative Authority – which comprises the Council of Representatives and the Shura Council- in the Kingdom of Bahrain play a crucial role in representing, advocating for, and serving the people by safeguarding the national interest of the Kingdom.

Once elected, members of the parliament transcend their individual constituencies and become entrusted with the responsibility of advancing the nation’s welfare. They fulfill this duty through their legislative, oversight, and financial mandates, guided by the constitution, laws, and regulations governing their respective councils.

To execute their legislative, political, and financial responsibilities, parliamentarians must prioritize the public good over any electoral district considerations during their tenure, as such preferences could undermine the notion of serving the common interest. Upholding impartiality, integrity, and dedication, parliamentarians serve as the gateway to progress, development, and democracy in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
