Passport Replacement

Bahrain’s Missions and Consulates

Passports are replaced for Bahraini citizens residing abroad for the purpose of (study, treatment, work) by Bahrain’s missions and consulates abroad in coordination with the Ministry of Interior (the General Directorate for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs).

Terms of service

  • Personal or legal representative must be present to implement the service.
  • Show the reason for residing abroad (study, treatment, work…etc.)

Requested documents

  • A letter from the person concerned with the replacement request (letter sample).
  • Original passport.
  • Fill in the replacement request form (form sample).
  • Personal photos (according to the following requirements).

The passport is valid for ten years for those aged 21 years and above, while the passport is valid for five years for children.

Submission Channels/Steps

  • Through our missions abroad:
    1. Head to the nearest embassy or general consulate to submit a passport replacement application, making sure to bring the required documents, and to follow the procedure for submission.
    2. Fill out the form.
    3. Pay the fees.
    4. The application and all attached documents will be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which in turn will transfer the application to Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) for processing.
  • Using NPRA’s website:
    1. Go to the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs website and submit the application.
    2. The carrier company will contact the applicant to coordinate deliveries and pay fees.
    3. After preparing the passport, a payment link will be sent via the previously registered e-mail.
    4. After preparing the passport, it will be delivered to the holder of the passport through the carrier company.

    Time taken to complete the service:

    • (45) working days through the embassy.
    • (10) days via NPRA’s website.
