Bahrain-Hungary Joint Economic Committee meeting held

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, co-chaired the meeting of the Bahrain-Hungary Joint Economic Committee today in the Hungarian capital Budapest.

Foreign Minister Szijjártó said the meeting was an opportunity to enhance cooperation between the two countries in economic, trade, and investment sectors, highlighting the progress and development achieved through the committee's continuous efforts.

On his part, Foreign Minister Al Zayani highlighted Bahrain's keenness to strengthen and develop bilateral relations with Hungary.

He underscored the importance of high-level visits between the two countries for consolidating and enhancing these relations.

The two sides discussed cooperation in economic, environmental, educational, cultural, energy, and agriculture sectors, aiming to boost trade exchange, attract investments, and improve food security and modern technology.

The meeting highlighted the significance of enhancing joint political and diplomatic efforts, enhancing cooperation between foreign affairs ministries in areas such as political consultation, diplomatic training, international forum support, and follow up on bilateral cooperation decisions.

The two sides discussed regional and international security and stability issues in the Middle East and Europe, emphasising the need for peaceful resolution of conflicts to preserve international peace, prosperity, and development for all peoples.

It also discussed the Middle East region's developments, including the Palestinian issue, the ongoing Gaza Strip war, and the catastrophic situation of Palestinian civilians due to inadequate humanitarian aid delivery.

The two ministers signed the committee meeting minutes, which included discussions of cooperation aspects and implementation programmes and concluded by agreeing to hold the next meeting in Bahrain next year.
