Human Rights Affairs Sector organizes introductory symposium

The Human Rights Affairs Sector organized a virtual introductory symposium on the most prominent mechanisms and achievements of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain for the heads and diplomats of Bahraini diplomatic missions abroad, chaired by the Chief of Human Rights Affairs, ambassador Dr. Arwa Hassan Al-Sayed. The Director General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights, ambassador Dr. Yousef Abdulkarim Bucheeri was also present.

The speakers discussed the most important competencies and vital roles carried out by national redress mechanisms. They highlighted recent achievements such as the Alternative Penalties Law and open prisons. Additionally, they emphasized the importance of legislation aimed at promoting human rights.

The symposium was attended by the Ombudswoman, Ms. Ghada Hameed Habib, the Director-General of the General Administration for the Implementation of Alternative Sentences and Punishments at the Ministry of Interior, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the President of the National Institution for Human Rights, Engineer Ali Ahmed Al-Darazi, the Acting Attorney General and Head of the Special Investigation Unit, Mr. Mohammed Khaled Al-Hazza, and His Excellency Colonel Wael Al-Saleh from the Ministry of Interior.
