Solid Bahraini-Spanish relations praised

Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Bahraini Ambassador to Spain, residing in London, has hosted a reception and a luncheon, on the occasion of the Kingdom of Bahrain's celebration of its National Days, in commemoration of the establishment of the modern Bahraini State as an Arab and Muslim state founded by Ahmed Al Fateh in 1783, and the anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Accession to the Throne.

The events are in line with the kingdom's keenness to consolidate its historical relations with Spain across various fields of common interest.

The reception was attended by senior officials from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, including Ambassador Alberto Ucelay, Director-General for the Maghreb, Mediterranean and Middle East, Deputy Director-General, Director of Protocol and diplomats concerned with relations with Bahrain.

Ambassadors of Arab and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to Spain, Santiago de Antelo, Director-General of the Diplomatic School of Spain, and the editor-in-chief of "The Diplomat" magazine in Spanish, in addition to several friends of Bahrain, were also present.

While addressing the ceremony, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed affirmed the depth of the long-standing relations between the two kingdoms, stressing Bahrain's great interest in bolstering its existing cooperation with Spain at all levels.

The ambassador indicated that the two countries' relations are also strengthened thanks to the common principles they advocate, including peace, coexistence, dialogue and mutual respect.

Shaikh Fawaz asserted that the existing political and economic political partnership between the two kingdoms is progressing remarkably, adding that work is underway to bolster bilateral cooperation and ease procedures in order to double the volume of bilateral exchange so as to meet the aspirations of the two governments and serve the interests of the two countries.

Alberto Ucelay, in his statement, confirmed the depth of the Bahraini-Spanish relations, stressing keenness to continue strengthen and support those historical ties by all available means.

The Spanish Foreign Ministry's official commended Bahrain's stances regarding various pivotal issues, noting that they are similar to those of his country.

On the Arab-Spanish relations, he said that the countries of the Middle East are effective and essential partners to his country, adding that Spain always looks forward to bolster cooperation with them at all levels.
