The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, participated in the extraordinary ministerial-level meeting of the Arab League Council to support the Federal Republic of Somalia in its confrontation against attacks on its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hamza Abdi Barre, as well as ministers, heads of delegations, and the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

The Minister expressed the Kingdom’s welcome to address Somalia's request to confront Ethiopia's attacks on its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He expressed concern over tensions arising from Ethiopia's memorandum of understanding, which undermines Somalia's sovereignty and stability.

The Minister emphasized the importance of respecting good neighborliness, state sovereignty, and non-interference in international relations, stating that violating these principles can exacerbate tension, undermine regional stability, and threaten peace and security.

The Minister emphasized the importance of the Arab League Council's support for Somalia's sovereignty and independence and called for active Arab diplomatic action to address the urgent crisis affecting the Horn of Africa region's security and stability.

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, and the Chief of Arab and African Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Al-Tarifi, also participated in the meeting.
