Foreign Minister participates in Council of League of Arab States meeting

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, participated in the extraordinary ministerial-level meeting of the Arab League Council which focused on supporting the Republic of Iraq. It was attended by ministers, heads of delegations, and the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

The Minister expressed the Kingdom's welcome to convening this meeting upon the request of the Republic of Iraq following the Iranian missile attacks that took place on the evening of January 15 on several residential sites in the city of Erbil, which resulted in the loss of civilian lives and injuries to others.

The minister strongly condemned the Iranian missile attack, expressing the Kingdom's strong condemnation of this act. He offered his sincere condolences to the families of the victims, the government, and the brotherly Iraqi people, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

The Minister reiterated Bahrain's firm position towards Iraq and rejects foreign interference in its internal affairs from any external party.

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, and the Chief of Arab and African Affairs, ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Al-Tarifi, participated in the meeting.
