Ministry of Foreign Affairs holds workshop on maintaining safety in digital age

On the sidelines of the Diplomatic Forum 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organised a virtual workshop for the Kingdom’s ambassadors and consuls abroad as well as senior officials from the Ministry on maintaining safety in the digital age, delivered by international communications data expert, Mark Bentley.

The workshop addressed the importance of maintaining cybersecurity in light of the modern technology that surrounds individuals, stressing the importance of adhering to implementing cybersecurity controls to ensure the protection of the ministry’s data and its missions abroad.

Expert Bentley reiterated the need to provide heads of missions abroad and Ministry officials with the necessary precise knowledge about preserving their data and privacy in various virtual outlets, including email, websites, and social media. He also reviewed best practices and the latest solutions in the field of cybersecurity at the regional and international levels, in addition to discussing a number of examples of cyberattacks, their types, and ways to confront them.

The workshop aimed to enhance awareness of cybersecurity and the challenges diplomats may face in this field, affirming the importance adhering to certain rules in order to protect the interests of the Kingdom of Bahrain abroad.
