MoFA Undersecretary meets UNICEF Area Representative for Gulf

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, received Eltayeb Adam, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Area Representative for the Gulf.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah highlighted Bahrain's achievements in protecting children's rights within the framework of its modern legislative and regulatory environment, which aims to develop restorative justice, protect children from abuse, and develop their capabilities in line with the comprehensive development process of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The Undersecretary discussed the cooperation and partnership between Bahrain's government and UNICEF in child protection and care, within the context of the National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026), and the Government Plan, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the shared goal of sustainable development.

The UNICEF Representative praised Bahrain's support for UNICEF programmes and achievements in protecting children's rights, highlighting the country's advanced legislation, policies, and measures in line with the National Strategy for Childhood (2023-2027).

He expressed the UNICEF's interest in transferring Bahrain's experience in child protection and care to other countries.
